Job Description:
The Instructor Guard position will mostly consist of teaching swimming lesson and the occasional lifeguarding shift (for those with NL). These services will be provided to clients at their backyard pools across the city so employees must have access to a vehicle. You will be asked to meet clients on time at their pool, teach the swimmer(s) to their appropriate level(s), end the lesson on schedule and talk to the participant and/or parent about how the lessons are going.

Responsibilities:
- Be experienced and knowledgable with all Red Cross Swimming curriculums.
- Provide swim instruction for varying ages.
- Be respectful of the gender, culture and religion of the client.
- Be enthusiastic and excited during each swimming lesson.
- Be vigilant, alert and rescue ready at all times during lifeguarding shifts.
- Arrive early, begin and end class on time, remain after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies.
- Educate participants on proper technique and consistently promote swimmer safety.
- Submit completed report cards, certificates and attendance information on time.
- Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain the highest standards of customer service.
Skills / Qualifications Required:
- Must have access to a vehicle.
- Current Water Safety Instructor certification.
- Current National Lifeguard Pool or Red Cross Pool Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguarding certifications are preferred but not required for those who will only teach).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required, or must be acquired within 30 days of hire.
- 2 years minimum of experience teaching swimming lessons.
- 17 years of age or older.
- Ability to work independently and possess confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to positively interact with the clients/swimmers.
